86 Odisha children adopted by foreign parents in 3 years
At least 86 children from Odisha have been adopted by foreign parents in three years from 2015, a state minister said. He said that 33 children were adopted by foreign parents in 2015, 24 in 2016, and 29 in 2017. The Kurda district-based Subhadra Mahatab Seva Sadan registered the maximum number of foreign adoptions during the period, sending 25 children abroad.
No reports of untoward incidents with adopted girl children
"All the 86 children were given to the foreign parents from the Specialized Adoption Agency in the year 2015, 2016, and 2017," Odisha Women and Child Development Minister Prafulla Samal said. Replying to a question by BJD's Sanjeev Kumar Sahoo, the Minister said the Odisha government has not received any report of untoward incidents with girl children sent to foreign countries for adoption.
