Telangana: 7 students commit suicide after failing Intermediate exams
Seven students from Telangana, aged 16 and 17, allegedly died by suicide within two days following the announcement of the results of the Telangana Board of Intermediate Examinations (TSBIE). The results were declared on April 24. The first case was reported in Mancherial district, where a 16-year-old hanged himself. The student did not clear four subjects, according to The Indian Express.
Students found dead in Hyderabad
Police said two girl students also took their lives after failing the exams. One of the girl students was found hanging at her residence, while another reportedly jumped into a well. A first-year male student also allegedly committed suicide due to poor exam performance, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Zone) R Giridhar said. Another male student from Hyderabad's Nallakunta region was found dead near a railway track in Jadcherla. Authorities believe his exam performance had a role in his death.
3 more students suspected of suicide due to exam failure
A senior police official from Mancherial District said three more first-year students allegedly died by suicide at different locations due to exam failure. These incidents occurred in various places, including Rajendranagar on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Kollur. Over 9.8 million students participated in the intermediate exam earlier this year, with a pass percentage of 61.06% for first-year students and 69.46% for second-year students.
