Torrential rain claims 7 lives in Hyderabad as wall collapses
Seven individuals, including a four-year-old child, lost their lives when a retaining wall at an under-construction apartment in Hyderabad's Bachupally area collapsed due to heavy rainfall. The victims were migrant workers hailing from Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Their bodies were discovered beneath the rubble early Wednesday morning with the help of an excavator, the Bachupally Police said.
Heavy rainfall disrupts life in Hyderabad
The torrential downpour on Tuesday wreaked havoc in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana, causing significant disruption to daily life. Many areas of the city reported waterlogging, leading to traffic congestion. In response, Disaster Relief Force (DRF) teams were dispatched across the city to tackle water stagnation and remove fallen trees. Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Danakishore, along with GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose, also visited various affected areas to guide DRF teams.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds for several states including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and Karnataka until May 12. At the same time, East and South Peninsular India may expect a wet spell accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms until May 11.
