60-hour weekend lockdown in all MP cities: CM Chouhan
A lockdown will be enforced in all Madhya Pradesh cities from 6 pm on Friday to 6 am on Monday to check the spread of COVID-19, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Thursday. After chairing a meeting in Bhopal to review MP's coronavirus situation, Chouhan said his government aims to increase the number of beds for COVID-19 patients in MP to one lakh.
State government imposed lockdowns in several cities on Sundays
In the past three weeks, the state government imposed lockdowns in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, and Gwalior on Sundays and extended the curbs to some other cities last Sunday.
Government to set up COVID-19 care center in each district
"Various crisis management groups will hold meetings to review the situation in cities where there has been a spurt in COVID-19 cases and will decide the course of action to contain it," Chouhan said. "Besides increasing the number of beds for the viral infection patients, the state government has also decided to set up one COVID-19 care center in each district," he said.
MP records 4,043 new COVID-19 cases, 13 deaths
There are total 52 districts in MP. "Private hospitals are also being roped in to increase the number of beds for COVID-19 patients," Chouhan further said. On Wednesday, MP reported 4,043 new cases of coronavirus, taking its tally to 3,18,014, while 13 fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,086, as per official data from the state health department.
Nine districts in MP reported new deaths
Bhopal accounted for 618 new cases and Indore for 866. Nine districts in MP reported new deaths. Four people died in Indore, two in Ratlam, one death was reported each in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Betul, Chhindwara, Rajgarh, Shajapur, and Mandla, according to The Times of India. Meanwhile, 2,126 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours taking MP's recovery count to 2,87,869.
