    What's the story

At least six Army personnel were injured in a landmine explosion in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Tuesday.

The incident occurred near Khamba Fort in the Nowshera sector at around 10:45am when the personnel were on patrol duty.

A soldier accidentally triggered the landmine by stepping on it, officials said.

Injured soldiers stable after landmine explosion

The injured soldiers were rushed to a hospital immediately after the explosion. They are stable now, according to the latest reports.

According to officials, the forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC), where the incident took place, are littered with landmines as part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system.

These mines are sometimes displaced due to rains, resulting in accidents like this one.

    Past tragedy

Previous landmine incident claimed life of Army havaldar

This incident came less than a month after Havaldar V Subbaiah Varikunta of the 25 Rashtriya Rifles was killed in a landmine explosion in Poonch district.

The explosion took place during an area domination patrol in Thanedar Tekri when the patrol team accidentally triggered a mine.

Havaldar Subbaiah was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.

He had served nearly two decades in the Indian Army and is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
