6 children dead as schoolbus overturns in Haryana
In a tragic incident, six students lost their lives and over 20 were injured when a school bus from GL Public School met with an accident near the Unhani village of Kanina, Haryana. The bus was carrying around 35-40 students from Class 4 to Class 10 from GRL School. Preliminary findings suggest that the driver may have lost control of the bus, causing it to collide with a tree.
Driver suspected of intoxication, arrested
Meanwhile, the District Education Officer hinted at the possibility of the driver being intoxicated at the time of the accident. The Superintendent of Police, Arsh Verma, confirmed his arrest and stated that a medical examination is underway to determine if he was under the influence of alcohol. Verma did not provide further details about the ongoing investigation or potential charges against the driver.
Hospital reports on injured students' condition
Dr. Ravi Kaushik from Nihal hospital in Mahendragarh, Haryana, reported that 20 children were brought to the hospital, with four being brought dead. One of the injured students was put on a ventilator but unfortunately passed away after 10 minutes. He further added that they managed to save 15 children who had sustained serious injuries in the accident. The condition of the remaining injured students is yet to be disclosed.
