Latur police parade men for beating man until clothes tore
What's the story
The Latur Police in Maharashtra arrested five men for a gruesome attack on Tuesday night.
The accused were paraded on the streets of Latur city after their arrest.
A video that went viral online showed the group mercilessly beating 28-year-old Ajay Chinchole with sticks, stones, and belts.
Before police arrived, Chinchole was rushed to the hospital by locals.
Cause
Incident triggered by trivial argument
The fight that left Chinchole critically injured was reportedly triggered by a small argument at a bar on Ambajogai Road in Latur city.
According to police reports, both the attackers as well as the victim were at this bar on Tuesday evening.
The argument spilled outside the establishment, where six or seven men assaulted Chinchole and left him unconscious for some time.
Escape
Attackers fled before police arrived
While the assault took place, a crowd of onlookers assembled, most recording videos of the incident.
However, by the time Shivajinagar police station was informed and arrived at the scene, all of them had escaped.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas in their investigation of the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate that all five suspects have previous criminal records.
