5 IAF personnel injured in militant attack in J&K's Poonch
Five soldiers of the Indian Air Force (AIF) were injured after militants opened fire on an IAF vehicle convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch area on Saturday evening. Officials said that the attack took place as the convoy was moving toward Sanai Top in the district's Surankote area. Two injured soldiers are reported to be in critical condition and were rushed to the hospital.
Massive search operation has been initiated
A massive search operation has been initiated to locate and neutralize the terrorists, and the forces have requested reinforcements from the army and police. The local Rashtriya Rifles unit has also started cordon and search operations in the area, according to reports. Meanwhile, security has been increased around the Sanai area near Jaran Wali Gali in Surankot, and personnel are closely inspecting each vehicle.

Second attack on security forces in Poonch
The attack on the IAF convoy on Saturday marks the second such attack on security troops in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch area. In January, suspected terrorists opened fire on a convoy of vehicles near Krishna Ghati in the Poonch district. The vehicles were carrying security personnel back to the camp. However, no security personnel were injured in that attack.
4 jawans killed in attack on Army vehicles
The last major attack on Indian Army personnel was reported in December 2023, when four jawans were killed and three injured after terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles in Poonch. The targeted vehicles were also transporting jawans. In total, 19 Indian Army soldiers were killed in four attacks by terrorists in Rajouri and Poonch in 2023.
