Delhi: 40 snatching cases with foreign tourists reported in 3-years
Forty cases of snatching in which the victims were foreign tourists were registered by the Delhi Police in last three years, Union Minister Hansraj Gangaram Ahir informed Rajya Sabha today. This year, till June 30, six such cases were reported in Delhi, Ahir added. Snatching cases in Delhi declined by 3.28% in 2016, 14% in 2017, and 28.90% in 2018, he said. Here's more.

In 2015, three cases of snatching in which the victims were foreign tourists were registered by the Delhi Police, whereas the number of such cases stood at 19 in 2016 and 18 in 2017, Ahir said.
Persons arrested and convicted in snatching cases
Till June 30 this year, 2,182 persons were arrested and seven were convicted in snatching cases, the Minister of State for Home said. In 2015, 3,675 persons were arrested and 105 were convicted in such cases. In 2016, 5,092 persons were arrested and 46 were convicted, while in 2017, 5,454 persons were arrested and 44 faced conviction, Ahir added.
