Raped by uncle, 3-year-old fights for life in Lucknow hospital
Just two months after an eight-month-old baby girl was raped in Delhi, there's been another horrific incident in India. This time, a three-year-old girl was raped by her uncle in Lucknow. The child underwent a surgery and is now fighting for her life at the hospital in King George's Medical University. Her condition is said to be critical.
Locals beat up the perpetrator before handing him over
"A group of locals nabbed the girl's uncle coming out of the abandoned building. He was beaten up badly before being handed over to us," said the police in a statement.
The girl was found in an abandoned building
The girl went missing on Friday afternoon while playing outside her house. Reportedly, she had been duped and taken to an abandoned building by her 20-year-old uncle who raped her and abandoned there. The girl's father, a daily wage laborer in Lucknow Nagar Nigam, has been residing in a rented place in Lucknow's Thakurganj locality for several years now.
The state of rape sensitivity in India is despicable
According to the latest RTI, only Rs. 835cr of the Nirbhaya Fund's Rs. 3,211cr has been used so far. Madhya Pradesh, which got the highest allocation, spent an average of Rs. 6,000 per rape victim, while 24 other states and UTs didn't submit expenditure details.
