#Pulwama: 3 terrorists, 1 soldier killed in encounter, says Army

Three terrorists and a soldier were killed in an encounter between the ultras and security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir today.
The security forces, after receiving inputs of terrorists' presence, had launched a cordon and search operation in the area this morning, which soon turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire on the security personnel, said an Army official.

Clashes ensue after encounter leaving 7 civilians dead
The search operation was conducted in Sirnoo village in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
Three terrorists and a soldier were killed in the gunfight, the official said.
The identities and group affiliation of the slain ultras were not known yet.
Massive clashes broke out between youths and security forces in the area, following the encounter, resulting in the death of seven civilians.

Five deceased have been identified: Liyaqat Dar, Suhail Ahmad, Shahbaaz, Amir Ahmad Paul and Abid Hussain Lone. Former CM, Omar Abdullah condemned the incident and called it "another blood-soaked weekend in Kashmir". Clashes also broke out in neighboring villages after the death of civilians.

6 civilians killed and numerous more injured, many critically. Any way you look at it this was a badly executed encounter. Protests around encounter sites are now the norm not the exception. Why are we unable to learn how to handle them better?
