2 journalists killed in road accidents in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar
Two journalists were killed in road accidents in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, police said. However, the family members of both journalists alleged foul play in their death. One of the journalists Sandeep Sharma, 35, worked with a local news channel in Bhind in Madhya Pradesh, while other Naveen Nishchal, worked with a Hindi daily in Bhojpur district in Bihar. Here are more details.
What was the case of Sandeep Sharma?
Sharma was mowed down by a truck in front of a police station when he was talking on the phone, police said. His nephew, Vikas Purohit, in a police complaint, alleged that Sharma was facing a threat to his life because of the recent sting operation he carried out on the sand mafia. The driver of the truck fled the scene after the accident.
Police formed an SIT to probe the case
Bhind SP Prashant Khare said Sharma's application to the authorities was being examined and the incident probed. "We have formed a Special Investigation Team to probe the entire incident. A case under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) has been registered," Khare said.
What was the case of Naveen Nishchal?
In Bihar, journalist Naveen Nishchal and his friend Vijay Singh were killed when an SUV rammed into their bike near Nahsi village in Bhojpur district. Irate villagers intercepted the vehicle, but its occupants fled. The mob set the SUV on fire, Bhojpur SP Avakash Kumar said. Naveen's brother Rajesh alleged former Panchayat Mukhiya Ahmed Ali and his son Dabloo were behind the killing.
