#GaneshChaturthi: 18,000 policemen deployed in Hyderabad
As many as 18,000 policemen have been deployed in Hyderabad for Ganesh-chaturthi'>Ganesh Chaturthi and subsequent immersion after ten days, police said today. According to Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, the department has received about 12,500 requests from various organizations for erecting Ganesh idols. "Our officers will ensure that every pandal has security personnel. We seek cooperation from the Ganesh pandal organizers also," Kumar said.
Notably, 11-day festivities will end on September 23
"We asked for two companies of central forces (RAF and CRPF) for the purpose. We've drawn about 3,000 policemen from other districts as well," Kumar said. Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi Chief, Bhagwantha Rao said this year the Ganesh idol set up at Khairatabad is 57ft tall and it's the tallest in Telangana. Rao said the 11-day festivities will end on September 23.

Meanwhile, political parties performed Ganesh puja at their respective offices. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan, and Telangana CM KC Rao greeted people on the festival eve. "May The Lord Ganesha lead all people of Telangana on the path of progress, peace," KCR said.
