UP: Minor girl allegedly set ablaze by jilted lover
A 17-year-old girl died after suffering burn injuries as she was allegedly set afire by a jilted lover at Achalganj police station area in UP's Unnao city. However, Superintendent of Police Harish Kumar suspects that it could be a case of suicide as the girl was in a relationship with the man and was unhappy as his marriage had been fixed somewhere else.
Man puts vermilion on victim's forehead before setting her afire
The girl identified as Neha was set ablaze by Vikas, a resident of the same village. He allegedly barged into her house and put vermilion on her forehead before pouring kerosene. The girl was rushed to a hospital by villagers where doctors pronounced her dead, the police said. A case was lodged on the complaint of the girl's father, the police said.
