Thane: 16-year-old girl raped by friends on "Friendship-Day", accused arrested
Two men allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl yesterday after taking her out on the pretext of celebrating the Friendship Day in Maharashtra's Thane district, a police official said today. The accused were known to the victim, said Inspector VM Pawar of Dombivili police station, adding both were arrested. They were booked under IPC section 376D (gangrape) and relevant sections of POCSO Act, Pawar added.
Accused took the girl to an abandoned room, raped her
The accused, aged 18 and 22 years, took the girl on a two-wheeler to an abandoned room near a fish hatchery in Dombivili and allegedly raped her, Pawar said. The accused warned her of dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident, he added. The victim, however, approached police. One of the accused is into fish-hatchery business, while another is a college student.
