Punjab: 12 travel-agents booked for sending youths abroad on forged-documents
Twelve travel agents have been booked in Punjab for allegedly duping 30 youths of several lakhs of rupees by sending them to the USA on forged documents, who are now languishing in the US's Arizona jail. The SHO of Sultanpur Lodhi police station in Punjab's Kapurthala, Sarabjit Singh, said a criminal case has been registered against several travel agents.
Travel agents charged Rs. 25-30 lakh from each youth
The police official said that these travel agents, who were operating illegally, had set up a network at Sultanpur Lodhi, Bholath, Begowal, Jalandhar, and Delhi and used to charge Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 30 lakh from each youth. A case under the Punjab Prevention of Human Smuggling Act and relevant sections of the IPC have been registered against the accused travel agents.
