Decoding 'Zero' Trailer: Here are the 5 key takeaways
After much fanfare, a lot of promotions and even more praises on social media, the trailer of 'Zero' finally released today. It blew our minds because it was nothing like we imagined. We knew since it's Aanand L. Rai's movie, the dialogues would be quirky, but that Shah Rukh Khan will do justice to the small town feel this well, wasn't expected. Now that the trailer has released, we list five things it tells us about the movie.
Shah Rukh Khan is unmarried and desperate
The trailer shows a desperate Bauua Singh reprimanding an agent of a marriage bureau for not finding 'good' girls for him. He stares at a wall which has photos of girls, and we think that's how he found the picture of Anushka Sharma. He terms her diamond among coal and shows his desperation to get married, not knowing she is paraplegic.
With his father, Bauua Singh doesn't share an amicable bond
The trailer also tells us SRK doesn't share a great relationship with his father, played by Tigmanshu Dhulia. In the 3: 14-minute trailer, he blames Dhulia for his short height, when the former wants him to get married. The set up is true to a small town: A father beats his son even after he grows up, and the family jumps to his rescue.
Anushka is celebrated yet lonely
Anushka Sharma gives talks, attends school functions, is felicitated by people, and regardless of all the success is lonely. She fails to understand why Bauua would confess his love for her despite not knowing her for long. She also displays a childlike enthusiasm when he talks to her while pointing at stars. Anushka's demeanor does look forced, but we hope the movie is better.
Katrina is a star who rules millions of hearts
Not much time is dedicated to Katrina Kaif in the trailer, meaning she could be the surprise package of the movie which the makers don't want to talk about. From the trailer, we know she is a popular movie star, she has lakhs of fans and exudes charisma. Why does she choose Bauua as her close aide is a question the movie will answer.
Bauua Singh seems happy but maybe he is not
Under the witty lines and smart comebacks, Bauua Singh is someone who has problems with God. In one scene of the trailer, he curses God for taking away his opportunity to be equal. The conflict which the movie is all about surely stems from this thought. 'Zero' seems like an easy-breezy romantic movie and we really hope it lives up to the expectations. It releases on December 21.
