#ZeeCineAwards2019: Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone win top laurels
Yesterday, all Bollywood stars gathered in one place because of Zee Cine Awards 2019. It was a night to remember as the event witnessed a close competition between some of the most promising and impactful movies of 2018. Needless to say, it was a starry affair with Bollywood's who's who marking their presence at the award ceremony. Here's a look at the winners.
'Padmaavat' grabs top awards: Best director, best actor (female)
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali won the Best Director Award for his historical drama Padmaavat. We all saw that coming as it was one of the most talked about and successful movies of 2018. In fact, not only Bhansali, but Deepika Padukone also won Best Actor (Female) Award for her spectacular performance in Padmaavat. Besides, Ranveer won Best Actor (Male) Viewers Choice for the movie.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor steals the show with 'Sanju'
Ranbir Kapoor won the award for Best Actor for Sanju, which was a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt. This was unsurprising as Ranbir had nailed it with his uncanny resemblance to the veteran actor and also with his phenomenal performance. His acting in the movie is termed as his best till date. Notably, Sanju chronicles Dutt's life and some of the controversies surrounding him.
Who won the awards for best supporting actors
Interestingly, Sanju took home another honor as Vicky Kaushal won the Best Supporting Actor (Male) for his role of Kamli in the movie. The actor, who is basking in the success of his last release Uri: The Surgical Strike, was certainly on cloud nine with the achievement. On the other hand, Katrina Kaif bagged the Best Supporting Actor (Female) for her performance in Zero.
'Dhadak': Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor win for best debut
Karan Johar's Dhadak marked the big Bollywood debut of Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of deceased actor Sridevi. Yesterday, Janhvi's hard work paid off, as she bagged the Best Debut (Female) for her first movie. She was accompanied by co-star Ishaan Khatter, who won the Best Debut Award for both Dhadak and Beyond the Clouds. Dhadak was a remake of the Marathi language film Sairat (2016).
Amar Kaushik wins best debut director for 'Stree'
Amar Kaushik, director of Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Stree, had all the reasons to be happy yesterday. Not only did he win the debut director award for Stree, but Pankaj Tripathi also bagged the award for best dialogues for the horror comedy.
Music category: Yasser Desai, Vibha Saraf and Harshdeep Kaur win
In the music category, Akshay Kumar's Gold and Alia Bhatt's Raazi dominated the awards. While Sachin-Jigar, Arko and Tanishk Bagchi composed the music for Gold, Shankar-Ehsaan-Roy did it for Raazi. Singer Yasser Desai won the Best Playback Singer (Male) for Naino Ne Bandhi from Gold, composed by Arko. Meanwhile, Vibha Saraf and Harshdeep Kaur bagged the trophy for Dilbaro from Raazi.
