Yuvraj Singh gets 'Most Inspiring Icon for Social Welfare' award
After a disappointing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, Yuvraj Singh finally has something to cheer about. The Indian star cricketer has been honored with the 'Most Inspiring Icon Of The Year For Social Welfare' award by the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF). The committee was impressed by his contribution in the field of social welfare through his foundation 'YouWeCan'.
He founded 'YouWeCan' in 2012
Yuvraj, whose heroics helped India win the 2011 World Cup, was diagnosed with cancer shortly after the end of the tournament. He went to the United States for treatment and returned to India a year later. It was then that he founded 'YouWeCan' to spread cancer awareness and help educate the cancer survivors.
Unfortunately, IPL 11 proved to be his worst season
In the recently concluded eleventh edition of the cash-rich league, Yuvi played for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and scored a mere 65 runs in eight matches at an average of 10.83. The original trailblazer of the T20 format made an unwanted record this season. He registered the worst strike-rate (89.04) for any player who had faced 50 or more balls.
