'Young Sheldon' finale hits four-year viewership high with 9M+ viewers
The series finale of CBS's long-running popular comedy, Young Sheldon, marked a significant milestone by recording its highest same-day viewership in four years. The final episode, which concluded the show's seven-season run on Thursday night, attracted 9.32M viewers, according to Nielsen's final same-day ratings. This is the largest audience for the show since its third season finale aired on April 30, 2020. In India, the show is streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.
Finale episodes rank high in the season's scripted series
The finale was divided into two episodes, both of which attracted substantial viewership. The first episode, aired at 8:00pm ET/PT, drew about as many viewers (9.15M) as the 8:30pm finale episode. These episodes rank second and third in same-day viewers among all scripted series this season, only surpassed by the post-Super Bowl premiere of Tracker.
'Young Sheldon' finale scored season's best ratings
Both episodes of the Young Sheldon finale saw an increase from Nielsen's preliminary figures, which had them at 8.82M viewers for the 8:00pm installment and 8.95M for the finale. The series also recorded its season-best ratings among adults aged between 18 and 49, scoring a 0.71 rating (937,000 viewers in this demographic) for its first episode and a 0.76 (about 1.01M viewers) for the finale episode.
'Young Sheldon' maintains CBS's comedy dominance
Before its finale, Young Sheldon averaged 7.03M same-day viewers this season, securing its position as the most-watched network comedy for the fifth consecutive season, per The Hollywood Reporter. This achievement continues CBS's impressive 19-year streak of hosting the most-watched comedy each season, a record that began with Everybody Loves Raymond in 2004-05 and continued with Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, and now Young Sheldon. All these successful shows were executive produced by Chuck Lorre.
'Young Sheldon' sees significant rise in livestream viewership
In addition to traditional television viewership, Young Sheldon also experienced a significant increase in livestream views. CBS reported a 39% rise in live views of Young Sheldon on Paramount+, CBS.com, and the CBS app from the previous week, and a 50% increase compared to the finale of the sixth season. The show is a spin-off of The Big Bang Theory and stars Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, and Lance Barber.
