Ye dropped by talent agency after antisemitic remarks, Swastika controversy
What's the story
Music mogul Ye (formerly Kanye West) has been dropped by talent agency 33&West, a representative confirmed.
The rapper's agent at 33&West, Daniel McCartney, took to social media to announce that the decision was "effective immediately" in light of Ye's "harmful and hateful remarks."
The move comes after a string of controversies surrounding the artist, including inappropriate and racist posts on his X account, which has since been deactivated.
Controversy
Ye's controversial remarks and actions sparked outrage
Ye's recent behavior has sparked a lot of controversy. He made headlines for his surprise appearance at the Grammys with his wife, Bianca Censori, who was virtually nude beneath a fur jacket.
He then posted on his X account that "he loves when Jewish people come to me and say they can't work with me" and said he is "never apologizing for my Jewish comments."
Ye also called himself a Nazi and said Hitler was "so fresh."
Lawsuit
Rapper faces legal action for antisemitic behavior, too
The 47-year-old rapper is being sued by a former marketing staffer who claims he fired her after calling her ugly and texting her "Hail Hitler."
The lawsuit alleges that Ye targeted Jewish employees with antisemitic comments. Text messages included in the lawsuit show Ye writing "I Am A Nazi" and "Welcome to the first day of working for Hitler."
The legal action adds to the artist's growing list of controversies.
Backlash
Ye's antisemitic history leads to business consequences
To note, this isn't the first time Ye has been criticized for his antisemitism.
In 2022, he was restricted on X after threatening to go "death con 3 on Jewish people," prompting Adidas to end its contract with him.
Most recently, at the Super Bowl, Ye promoted his brand Yeezy, after which the site was seen selling only one product—a Swastika (Nazi Germany symbol) T-shirt. The e-commerce platform Shopify has since removed the site in response to his actions.
