Late singer Park Bo-ram's agency condemns 'malicious comments'; issues warning
Xanadu Entertainment, the agency representing the late South Korean singer Park Bo-ram, has issued a stern warning against those spreading unfounded rumors and harmful comments about the artist. On Sunday, Park's agency voiced its concern over the proliferation of such content on various online platforms, including social media and YouTube. They equated these defamatory acts to "killing the deceased twice." Notably, the artist passed away on Thursday evening.
'If such behavior continues, our company will take strong measures...'
Expressing deep concern over the proliferation of malicious posts, Xanadu Entertainment asserted, "Since her debut, Park has been troubled by malicious comments due to unconfirmed facts, and even now, these fake news items targeting her are nothing less than clear acts of defamation, akin to killing the deceased twice." "Our company, relatives, and acquaintances are all suffering great mental shock and pain due to this." They continued, "If such behavior continues, our company will take strong civil and criminal measures."
Singer Kim Greem also criticized sensationalized content about Park
Singer Kim Greem—a close friend of Park—also expressed her indignation at the rumors floating around the deceased. She condemned those who are creating sensationalized content, saying, "How can't there be any measures against YouTubers who create fake news with AI voices, sensational titles, and thumbnails to make money using a deceased person?" "These are truly despicable individuals exploiting the departed to earn money. It's infuriating."
Details of Park's tragic passing
Park was discovered unconscious in a restroom during a private gathering on Thursday (April 11). On that night, the 30-year-old had been socializing with two friends. At approximately 9:55 pm, Park excused herself to use the restroom but failed to return. Concerned, her friends went to check on her and discovered her unconscious, leaning over a sink. They immediately administered CPR while awaiting medical assistance. Park was subsequently rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead at around 11:17 pm.
Park's musical journey and recent release
Park first gained recognition after participating in Mnet's audition program Superstar K2 in 2010. Her official debut was in 2014 with Beautiful. She continued to produce music with tracks like Celepretty, Pretty Bae, Why, You?, and Will Be Fine. Earlier this month, she released a new song titled I Miss You Already. At the time, her agency stated, "Park—who celebrated her 10th debut anniversary this year—is preparing a full-length album starting with the release of this new song."
