'Wicked' teaser: 'Bridgerton's Duke is now 'Oz's most eligible bachelor!
Wicked fans are in for a treat! The highly-anticipated film adaptation dropped its first teaser on Monday, offering a dazzling glimpse into the magical world of Oz. Ariana Grande shines as the bubbly Glinda, while Bridgerton's Jonathan Bailey makes a striking debut as Fiyero, the charming "most eligible bachelor" of Oz. Serving as a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the film is set to hit theaters on November 22.
Teaser featured Fiyero's arrival at Shiz University
The teaser begins with a newspaper announcement of Prince Fiyero's arrival at Shiz University, causing a stir among the students. Grande as Glinda is seen preparing to impress him. The character of Pfannee, played by Bowen Yang, appears to be upset by Fiyero's arrival. In the teaser, Fiyero announces his intention to "corrupt his fellow students," and is seen participating in a musical number and climbing the stacks of the Shiz library.

'Wicked' explores Elphaba and Glinda's relationship
Wicked tells the story of Elphaba during her school days when she first met popular girl Glinda. The musical follows their journey from being roommates at Shiz University to becoming unlikely friends and then political enemies as they both fall for Fiyero. The musical was created by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman who have adapted their script for the screen version. The original Broadway producer Marc Platt is also producing the film version.
When director explained decision to split 'Wicked' into two films
Director Jon M. Chu announced in a 2022 post on X/Twitter that the musical would be divided into two films. Chu explained that it was impossible to condense the story of Wicked into a single film without compromising the source material. He stated, "We decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one Wicked movie but two! With more space, we can tell the story of Wicked as it was meant to be told."
