The news was revealed in the latest episode of Season 35, titled Cremains of the Day, where it was disclosed that Larry had passed away. Known as Lawrence Dalrymple on the show, Larry first appeared in its premiere episode Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire back in 1989.
Larry's death was unveiled in an unexpected twist
The demise of Larry was unveiled in an unexpected twist when he remained motionless after Moe tried to clear out the bar following a lost football bet in Episode 15. The cause of his death, however, was not disclosed in the episode. His funeral was a subdued event, attended only by his mother who revealed that Larry considered Homer and his friends as his closest companions, a bond he fondly referred to as "Moe's Bros."
Larry's death brings Homer and his friends closer
Despite being a minor character with only two lines throughout the series, Larry's death deeply impacted Homer and his friends. Moved by Marge's regret over their neglect of Larry's solitude, they decided to honor him by spreading his ashes at Serenity Falls, a place he had dreamt of visiting with them. This poignant journey not only brought Homer and his friends closer but also led to an unexpected discovery about Larry's past.
Fans expressed shock and sadness at losing Larry
Larry's exit from the show has stirred reactions from fans worldwide on various social media platforms. Many expressed their shock and sadness at losing this long-time character. Harry Shearer, who lent his voice to Larry as well as other characters like Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, and Waylon Smithers, has yet to comment on this development.
