'The Sabarmati Report': Why original director left the film
Ranjan Chandel, the original director of the upcoming film The Sabarmati Report, has spoken out about his replacement. The movie, which stars Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra, had its release date postponed several times due to a change in the director. Chandel was replaced after the producers decided to reshoot certain scenes, a decision he did not agree with.
Chandel wasn't informed about credit change
A recent poster for The Sabarmati Report featured Dheeraj Sarna as the director, replacing Chandel. Chandel, speaking to Hindustan Times, revealed that he was not informed about this change prior to the poster's release. However, he expressed no resentment over the situation, stating, "I only took that decision to get out, so I don't want my credit at all now."
'Didn't want to take responsibility for it'
Chandel further explained, "The film might have a huge portion that I shot but since there was a difference in creative vision, I told the makers I don't want my name associated with it as the whole vision of the film wouldn't be mine." "I didn't want to take responsibility for it as the film deals with a sensitive subject. But I am happy and in a good space now. I wish the film all the best."
'The Sabarmati Report' explores sensitive historical event
The Sabarmati Report is set against the backdrop of the Godhra train burning incident, a tragic event that occurred on February 27, 2002, on the Sabarmati Express train. Produced by Ektaa Kapoor, it will now be released on November 15.
