Kumar revealed the incident in an old interview that was recently shared on Instagram by the account @bollywood_thikana.
He said he was to receive ₹12,000 for his role in Behen Hogi Teri, which starred Rajkummar Rao and Shruti Haasan in lead roles.
However, after the film tanked at the box office, the producers asked him to not cash his payment check.

Kumar said in the interview, "I want to tell new artists that it is not that easy to work. Withdrawing money is not so easy."
He added, "The ₹12,000 check is still kept at my house."
