What drew Bhumi Pednekar to comedy-drama 'Mere Husband Ki Biwi'
What's the story
Bollywood actors Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh are all set to share the screen in the upcoming comedy film Mere Husband Ki Biwi.
At a recent trailer launch event, the two actors dismissed rumors of any off-screen rivalry despite their characters' on-screen animosity.
"She is my sister... This narrative that two heroines are insecure is not true," said Pednekar about Singh.
She also revealed her motivation behind doing the film.
Comedy debut
'Mere Husband Ki Biwi' continues Pednekar's experiment with comedy
Pednekar said she was excited to explore the comedy genre with Mere Husband Ki Biwi, a film that explores the intricacies of romantic relationships.
She credited director Mudassar Aziz for giving her this opportunity, saying, "I'm glad Mudassar sir gave me the opportunity to do comedy in two of his films."
"I've seen such films while growing up and I would get inspired by actors Karisma Kapoor and others like them and the work they did."
Comedy
Pednekar on how the film's approach is different
Elaborating on the comedy in the film, Pednekar said, "Usually female actors don't get to do comedy films."
"I love watching comedy films. In this film, both female actors have done comedy on the front foot like how you would see back then in the 90s with the number one series kind of films where [female actors] would do comedy."
"So we've done something similar."
