Korean singer dies at 30; cause of death under investigation
The global K-pop community is mourning the sudden death of singer Park Bo-ram. Her talent agency, XANADU Entertainment, confirmed the tragic news on Friday. The agency revealed that the artist passed away on Thursday evening. Law enforcement is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her untimely demise. May she rest in peace.
Park was at a private gathering with friends
A report from the Namyangju Police Station has provided insight into Park's final moments. On the night of her death, she was out drinking with two friends. Around 9:55pm, she went to use the restroom and did not return. After a while, the friends got up to check on her and found her unconscious hunched over a sink. Reportedly, they performed CPR while waiting for medical responders to come.
Funeral details are yet to be announced
The responders took Park to a local hospital, Hanyang University Guri Hospital. However, the singer was declared dead at around 11:17pm. An autopsy has been requested as part of the ongoing investigation. Confirming her demise, the agency stated that details about her funeral will be decided after "consulting with the bereaved's family."
Looking at her rise to stardom in the K-pop world
Park first gained recognition after participating in the singing audition show Super Star K2 in 2010, where she secured eighth place. Her solo career began with a bang in August 2014 with her hit single Beautiful, featuring Zico, which ranked 19th on the annual music charts that year. This success earned her the Artist of the Year for August at the Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards and several Best New Artist nominations.
Park's legacy and unfulfilled plans
Throughout her career, Park captivated audiences with popular songs like Celepretty, Sorry, and Dynamic Love. She also contributed to numerous soundtracks for K-dramas, including one for Reply 1988. Earlier in February, she collaborated with artist Huh Gak for a duet titled I Hope, marking her 10th anniversary in music. Tragically, her death comes as she was planning a musical comeback, with reports indicating plans for a new studio album release later this year.
