Varma will be seen as Captain Devi Sharan
Captain Devi Sharan, portrayed by Varma, was the pilot of IC 814 on a flight from Kathmandu to Delhi. He was transporting honeymooners, holiday-makers, and business executives. It was the last Christmas Eve of the millennium, and he was looking forward to a vacation with his family. However, fate had other plans. His plane was hijacked by five masked men. To note, the show is partially adapted from Sharan and Srinjoy Chowdhury's book Flight Into Fear.

The series also features an impressive cast, including Patralekhaa as flight attendant Indrani. Dia Mirza stars as newspaper editor Shalini Chandra. Srivastava's past work with Netflix includes the hit film Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga and the series Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega.

The series will depict the terror experienced by passengers as the hijacked aircraft made emergency landings in four countries. The show offers a multifaceted look at the incident, showcasing the tense negotiations in Delhi's War Room, the high-stakes diplomacy at Taliban-controlled Kandahar, and the terrifying ordeal faced by passengers and crew aboard the hijacked aircraft, to ensure the safety of 189 people on board.
