Manya, daughter of an auto driver, crowned Miss India runner-up
What's the story
Getting recognized on a platform as big as the Miss India stage is a dream for many but it was even more special for Manya Singh.
Singh was crowned as the runner-up at the VLCC Femina Miss India 2020.
But it is her incredible life story that many are finding inspiring. She is the daughter of an autorickshaw driver from Uttar Pradesh.

Singh had a tough life growing up
Singh had earlier said in an Instagram post that she grew up amid tough circumstances and sometimes spent nights without even food or sleep.
She added that some days she had to walk miles just to save some money.
Singh further revealed that she "yearned for books" and the respect of her peers who always looked down upon her because of her humble background.

In December 2020, the official Instagram page of VLCC Femina Miss India had shared her story, in which she had said, "My blood, sweat, and tears have amalgamated into courage to pursue my dreams (sic)."

An inspiring tale of glory
Singh had said that she studied during the day, washed dishes in the evening, and worked at a call center at night.
"I am here today at the VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 stage to uplift my father, my mother, and my young brother and to show the world that all is possible if you are committed to yourself and your dreams," she added.

Singh earning praise from many for the feat
Former Miss World Manushi Chillar has applauded Singh.
In a note on Instagram Stories, Chillar commented, "Glass ceilings to shatter."
Chillar had won the Miss World title in 2017 and will soon make her Bollywood debut.
Actress Samantha Akkineni also praised Singh by sharing a post about the Miss India runner-up on Instagram with a 'GIF' that read "Imagine. Create. Inspire."
