Storyline
Remembering 'Salaar' plot details
Released in December 2023, the first part of Salaar is set in Khansaar, a city governed by Raja Mannar.
The story spans three decades, starting in 1985 with a strong friendship between Deva, an underprivileged Shouryanga clan member, and Mannar's son, Vardha.
Things take a turn when Raja Mannar commands the Shouryanga tribe's destruction, prompting Vardha to safely help Deva and his mother leave.
Deva promises to return whenever Vardha needs him.
Intrigue
'Salaar' explores power struggles and identity revelations
Years later, around 2010, Vardha's half-brother builds an army against him, while Vardha relies on Deva aka Salaar to do his bidding.
The climax reveals Deva as Devaratha Raisar—the rightful heir to Khansaar—with Vardha acknowledging him as his Salaar (leader) and confirming his Shouryanga lineage.
The movie began in 2017, when Deva and Vardha are shown as sworn enemies. What led the best friends to turn against each other will be explored in the second film.
