Oscars 2022: Streaming details of 5 Best Picture nominees
We are just days away from the 94th Academy Awards, slated to be held on March 28 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. So, why not enjoy this Oscar fever by watching those films that have been nominated under the Best Picture category this year? Here, we list the streaming details of five such movies.
'The Power of the Dog'
We will start with The Power of the Dog. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, the Western psychological drama is available to stream for free on Netflix. Apart from the Best Picture nomination, The Power of the Dog has also landed up with nods in 11 other categories including Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor (male and female).
'Dune'
Up next is Dune. Last October, the Denis Villeneuve-directed sci-fi film had hit the theaters and HBO Max simultaneously. After a few weeks, it left HBO Max only to return on March 10. For those stationed in India, they'll have to wait till March 25 to catch Dune. The film will be available in Hindi, Tamil Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on Amazon Prime Video.
'Don't Look Up'
Don't Look Up occupies the third position in this list. After getting a limited theatrical release on December 10 last year, it hit Netflix 14 days later. Having an ensemble cast comprising Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Cate Blanchett, and Meryl Streep, the apocalyptic black comedy received positive feedback from both critics and viewers. It's still on Netflix.
'West Side Story'
West Side Story occupies the fourth place. The Steven Spielberg-directed musical romantic drama is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The film had hit the platform on March 2. West Side Story is being led by Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler (her film debut) and has Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, and Rita Moreno, in the supporting roles. It has received seven Oscar nominations.
'King Richard'
King Richard rounds up our list. The film that tells the story of Richard Williams, the father of tennis aces Venus and Serena Williams, is unfortunately not available to stream in India. It, however, will hit the cinema halls here on March 25, just three days before the Oscars. Good move, indeed! The film had released in the United States in November last year.
