When will Batman enter James Gunn's DCU
James Gunn, the creative genius responsible for revamping the DC Universe, has revealed his plan for bringing Batman into this new world. In a recent interview with Collider, Gunn stressed that he isn't in a hurry to bring Batman. He said, "There's no set timeline for anything... Until we have a screenplay that I'm totally happy with, that movie is not going to get made."
Batman's debut in 'The Brave and the Bold'
Gunn confirmed that Batman will be making his first appearance in the new DC Universe in The Brave and the Bold. The film, directed by Andy Muschietti, will delve into the relationship between Bruce Wayne and his son Damian Wayne (the fifth Robin). However, until a satisfactory script is ready, fans will have to wait for this unique take on Batman's character.
Meanwhile, Matt Reeves's Batman universe will remain separate
Gunn's approach to the new DC Universe makes sure that every version of Batman can exist without overlapping stories. Matt Reeves's acclaimed The Batman universe (which includes the HBO series The Penguin and is set to expand with The Batman Part II), will continue as a separate entity. This way, we can have different interpretations of iconic characters like Batman within the larger DC world.
