Why Vicky Kaushal rejected Rajkummar's role in 'Stree'
Amar Kaushik's Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles, is currently decimating all other movies at the box office. While it's tough to imagine the franchise sans Rao, it was actually Vicky Kaushal who was first approached for the role! In an interview with Vogue BFFs, Kaushal once made this surprising revelation. Here's what he said.
Kaushal chose 'Manmarziyaan' over 'Stree'
When asked about a film he regrets rejecting, Kaushal named Stree, saying, "That was because I was doing Manmarziyaan." Despite his praised performance and unique blue-haired look in Manmarziyaan, the film, also starring Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu, underperformed at the box office. On the other hand, Stree emerged as a commercial success and significantly boosted Rao's career, paving the way for Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe.
'Stree 2' crosses ₹500 crore mark worldwide
Stree 2, which also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi, has reportedly crossed the ₹500 crore mark worldwide within just 11 days of its release. The film also features cameo appearances by Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar. Moreover, the sequel has surpassed the box office collection of its predecessor and the team will reunite for a third part.
Kaushal to appear as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 'Chhaava'
Kaushal, meanwhile, will next be seen in the historical drama Chhaava, where he will portray the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film's teaser, which was released recently, has generated much excitement among fans. Rashmika Mandanna will also star in the lead role. The film is set to hit theaters on December 6 and co-features Akshaye Khanna. Laxman Utekar has helmed it.
