#BlackbuckCase: When Salman Khan said he fed biscuits to deer

    What's the story

In a major blow to Salman Khan, he has been convicted for hunting two blackbucks in 1998 during the shooting of 'Hum Saath Saath Hain', in Jodhpur.

However, the quantum of sentence, maximum 6 years, is awaited and Khan is expected to apply for bail immediately.

Funnily enough, in 2009 the star defended himself saying he fed the 'petrified' deer cub with biscuits and water.

    Throwback

Salman had said 'incident blown out of proportion'

Speaking to NDTV's Sonia Singh in 2009, Khan had said, he was roaming along with fellow co-stars after the pack up.

He said, "We saw a fawn deer stuck in a bush. The whole herd was there. It was petrified. I took him out of there. We then gave him some water. The deer ate some biscuits and later went back in the forest."

The complaint against the five actors was filed on October 2, 1998. In April 2006, Salman was convicted and given 5 years' imprisonment.

He left jail on bail after a week.

But the conviction was overturned by the Rajasthan HC in August 2006.

In July 2016, it acquitted him of all charges in the case. The state government challenged the judgement in the SC.
