Rajkummar Rao was once replaced after shooting the film's poster
Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao recently opened up about his experiences of being replaced in films without any prior notice. In a promotional interview for his latest release, Stree 2, alongside co-star Shraddha Kapoor, Rao shared that he has faced such situations twice in his career. Kapoor also revealed a similar experience during the conversation. Here are more details on this.
Rao discovered his replacement through a newspaper
During the interview with Sushant Sinha, Rao revealed, "Once I had even received the contract from the makers to sign the film post-Kai Po Che after several meetings with the director. Then they told me you have been replaced." He further added, "Another time it happened that, almost everything was done including the look test and poster shoot and then I read it in a newspaper that I have been replaced. I was like 'wow.'"
Kapoor was replaced after celebrating her casting
Kapoor also shared her experience of being replaced in a film. She said, "I had even cut a cake along with the team after bagging a role in a film and then suddenly was told, 'You are replaced.' This hurts." The Stree 2 star did not reveal any further details about the incident or the name of the film.
Rao previously spoke about being replaced by a star kid
In a previous conversation with Karan Johar and Janhvi Kapoor, Rao had spoken about being replaced by a star kid overnight. He said, "I was supposed to do a film, but then suddenly I was not in that film overnight. Somebody who is known and happened to be a star kid got that part."
Rao and Kapoor reunite for 'Stree 2'
On the work front, Rao and Kapoor have reunited on screen for the sequel of their 2018 film Stree. The film marks Kapoor's first and only release of the year. She was last seen in the film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar last year. Meanwhile, for Rao, Stree 2 marks his third release of the year after Mr and Mrs Mahi and Srikanth.
