'Balle Balle Land': What to expect from Daler's metaverse property?
After becoming the first Indian artist to hold a virtual concert in the metaverse, popular singer Daler Mehndi has become the first Indian, in fact reportedly the first Asian, to buy land in the virtual world, too. And, living up to his fame, the king of Punjabi pop's property has been named Balle Balle Land. Here's all you can expect from this digital extravaganza.
Why does this story matter?
Often credited as India's first pop star, Mehndi was the first Indian artist to jump on the metaverse bandwagon. On Republic Day, the Garda singer staged "India's first virtual concert" in a metaverse called PartyNite. By doing so, Mehndi joined a list of global stars like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, and Marshmello. Now, it seems he's going deeper into the metaverse world.
It was inaugurated on Holi
First things first, the Tunak Tunak Tun crooner inaugurated Balle Balle Land on the occasion of Holi. Also, this land is located inside PartyNite, the same metaverse where Mehndi's January concert took place. Notably, PartyNite has been created by a Hyderabad-based game studio called Gamitronics. By choosing an avatar, interested people were able to enter the land and enjoy Mehndi's Holi special performance.
Special land to have merchandise store
While inaugurating the virtual land, Mehndi's giant, customized avatar had talked about a special paintball arena. Given there was a Holi-themed party, paintball did make sense. Further, a "Daler Mehndi Store" is set to open, where fans would be able to browse and purchase various kinds of merchandise, including shirts and jackets. Those who order products here are said to receive a door-step delivery.
In future, Mehndi will hold concerts in his own property
Passport NFTs (non-fungible tokens) were also dropped during the Holi event. According to the official launch video posted by Mehndi, in the future, the space will be used by the artist for special events and musical concerts. So, it would be a "permanent presence" in the metaverse for the 54-year-old. It is to be seen if more Indian singers/artists follow suit.
But how do you buy land in metaverse?
We can interact, play, learn, and invest in real estate with our digital avatars in the metaverse. How is this done? Buying land is possible through cryptocurrencies directly from platforms or from third-party resellers' markets. Notably, American rapper Snoop Dog is a metaverse landowner, too.
