From 'Shamshera' to 'Sherdil': Watch these OTT titles this weekend
Another weekend, another watchlist to keep you entertained! Until last week, the OTT space boasted popular titles from Darlings to She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and many more. This time around, a slew of much-awaited releases have made their way to the OTT platforms. Read on to find our list of curated titles on Netflix to Amazon Prime Video to binge-watch this weekend.
'Shamshera'
After its theatrical release on July 22, Ranbir Kapoor starrer Shamshera made its way to Amazon Prime Video on Friday (August 19). The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor in prominent roles. Set in the fictitious city of Kaza, Shamshera portrays Kapoor in a dual role—the titular hero and his son, Balli—whereas Dutt essays the role of a ruthless officer Shuddh Singh.
'Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga'
Actor Pankaj Tripathi headlined Srijit Mukherji's film Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga which premiered on Netflix on Saturday. Based on true events, the film is touted to be a "dark humor laced satire" that revolves around the real "tragic practices" that take place in villages at the border of the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. Moreover, it also explores the effects of urbanization and man-animal conflict.
'House of the Dragon'
The most-awaited spinoff of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon is all set to debut on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday with its first episode! It will then make its way to Disney+ Hotstar on Monday (August 22). Season 1 will comprise 10 episodes that will follow the weekly release schedule. New episodes will drop every Monday on Disney+ Hotstar.
'Tamil Rockerz'
Director Arivazhagan Venkatachalam helmed the series Tamil Rockerz starring actors Arun Vijay, Vani Bhojan, and Iswarya Menon. The eight-episode series on SonyLIV revolves around the popular titular piracy website that, despite strict IT guidelines, leaks almost every new release with high-quality print. Although the people running the website are labeled as criminals, those who are unable to buy tickets hail them as heroes.
'Duranga'
Duranga on ZEE5 is the Hindi remake of a 2020 Korean drama series Flower of Evil. The series is led by Gulshan Devaiah (Hunterrr, Hate Story) and Drashti Dhami (Geet). Touted as India's first-ever remake of a Korean drama series, it revolves around a happily married couple who has dark secrets. Dhami essays the role of a detective in this romantic crime thriller.
