'Outer Range' Season 2 finale: Unraveling mysteries and twists
The second season of Amazon Prime Video's Outer Range continued its tradition of spinning intricate narratives, leaving viewers with more questions than answers. The season, which landed on the streamer on Thursday, opened with the audience pondering over the whereabouts of characters Joy and Perry, who were transported back in time during the first season. Their journey was further explored in this latest installment. Here's a quick roundup of the season and its thrilling ending. Spoilers ahead.
The Abbotts and their land: A central mystery
A key mystery of the season revolved around the Abbotts and their land, which Cecelia had used as bail when Perry was arrested. With Perry's absence from court, the land was subsequently forfeited, sparking curiosity about how this situation would resolve. The Tillersons, especially Wayne were eager to acquire this land to uncover the secrets of the West pasture.
Autumn's intervention and Royal's visions
However, the Abbott family farm was saved from a change of ownership when Autumn persuaded Pastor Ken to pay the $5,00,000 bond. Meanwhile, Royal continued to have visions of the future. Although no new visions were introduced this season, it didn't eliminate the possibility of his ominous future becoming reality. On the other hand, Rhett's conversations with Dr. Nia Bintu about soil testing raised questions about Rhett's potential involvement in one of Royal's future visions showing oil digs.
Joy's return and Royal's surprising belief
Amid the looming questions, one significant development was Joy's return to her own time, now connected to the void and experiencing strange blackouts and wild animals following her. In a surprising twist, Royal believed that Autumn was his granddaughter Amy from the future and took her under his wing. This belief proved beneficial in Season 2 when Autumn manipulated Rebecca to secure a place for Amy in a group for abused women.
Season finale: Time travel and unexpected turns
The season concluded with Amy falling through time after being accidentally pushed into the void by Joy, emerging with the knowledge that her name was Autumn! Perry also got back into the void and found himself in a time before Season 1. This gave him an opportunity to change his past. The finale took an unexpected turn when Perry tried to prevent Trevor's accidental death, only to be knocked unconscious and thrown into the void by his own younger self.
