Wendy Williams (60) seeks to end guardianship, denies dementia diagnosis
What's the story
Former talk show host Wendy Williams has moved to end her guardianship.
On Wednesday (US time), the 60-year-old internet personality signed an affidavit asking a judge to remove her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey. The news comes as Williams continues to deny her diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) by doctors in early 2024.
Despite the medical verdict, she maintains that she doesn't have it and has "regained the capacity" to live independently.

Williams's medical re-evaluation and legal strategy
Williams has been scheduled for a medical re-evaluation on February 18—nearly two weeks after Morrissey requested a new medical exam.
The doctor conducting this evaluation has been chosen by the attorney Williams recently hired to help her end the guardianship. This appointment came after she dismissed court-appointed attorney Linda Redlisky on January 29.
After the medical evaluation, Williams's lawyer plans to file an "Emergency Order to Show Cause" on February 19.
Legal petition
Williams's legal team plans to file an 'Emergency order'
The legal petition seeks to "force the issue" with the judge who will eventually decide whether or not Williams's guardianship should be terminated.
If the judge denies Williams's request, she intends to "demand" a trial by jury where jurors will decide if the guardianship should end.
Before signing the legal document, Williams disclosed that she had only been outdoors "twice" in the last 30 days.
She also publicly slammed her FTD diagnosis as "disgusting" and "fake" on February 5.
