'WeCrashed' trailer: Anne Hathaway-Jared Leto make up dream business duo
Academy Award-winning actors Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto have come together for the Apple TV+ series, WeCrashed. Ahead of its premiere, the trailer for the show was released on Wednesday. It's based on the story of a real-life couple Adam and Rebekah Neumann—who founded the groundbreaking start-up WeWork in 2010. We'll see their rise, friction, and crashing fall in this. Here's a trailer breakdown.
What does the trailer show?
The 2:24-minute-long clip opens with Rebekah advising Adam to build a business about what he cares about the most. Soon, they establish the shared workspace firm along with Miguel McKelvey (Kyle Marvin). And, the idea clicks, skyrocketing WeWork to unimaginable heights. However, the flight is not sustainable as huge losses haunt the company and the chasm between the Neumanns seems to be the catalyst.
What was the 'conflict' in the trailer?
The series, created by Lee Eisenberg and Drew Crevello, touches upon this undercurrent friction between the couple. On one hand, Adam proclaims, "I built this," and on the other, Rebekah struggles with being left out of the achievements of the company. As the board members of their own company go against them, Rebekah stresses, "Nothing is more important than us," thereby coming together again.
What happened to real WeWork company?
WeWork leased office spaces to freelance workers/start-up founders and enjoyed a $47 billion valuation during its peak. However, things came crashing down in 2019 when it filed for an initial public offering (IPO). This brought the firm's actual financials to light and everyone came to know about the skeletons. Within months, Adam stepped down as Chief Executive Officer, marking the end of his reign.
First three episodes are premiering on March 18
The eight-episode series, helmed by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, is inspired by the Wondrey podcast WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork, and its first three episodes will be dropping on March 18 on Apple TV+. Thereafter, episodes will be released weekly. America Ferrera, O-T Fagbenle, Robert Emmet Lunney, Steven Boyer, and Cricket Brown make up the rest of the series's cast.
