Filmmakers, please cast 'Badhiya'-pair Sonam and Ranbir in more movies
The first song of Rajkumari Hirani-directed 'Sanju,' titled 'Badhiya,' dropped a short while ago. Apart from stunning visuals which transported me to the 80s, the song made me think what an amazing pair Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor make. It's sad we don't see them on screen often. That's why I'm pinning hopes on filmmakers to make more movies with these 2 gorgeous people.
Before we scroll down, let's watch the potential chartbuster
Sonam and Ranbir will forever remain each other's 'Saawariya'
When Sonam and Ranbir debuted with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya' in 2008, the movie failed to strike a chord with viewers or critics. But their pair did become my favorite. Remember the 'Thode Badmaash' song? That just showed how effortless on-screen chemistry came to these then newly-launched actors. Their relationship was playful, loaded with trust, and in general, relatable.
With Ranbir and Sonam, chemistry flows easily
Cut to 2018, they still have the same chemistry. The 'Badhiya' song shows romance between Sonam and Ranbir in ways that are sure to thrill all cinema buffs. For that, the two didn't need a song laden with sentiments. Even one in which Ranbir lip-synced to a woman's voice and Sonam channelled her love for the 80s in an offbeat style, did the trick.
Over the years both Sonam and Ranbir have matured
Sonam and Deepika Padukone's digs at Ranbir Kapoor on 'Koffee With Karan' still provides fodder to gossip-mongers. But that was years ago. Now in 2018, at the trailer launch of 'Sanju', RK said it was a pleasure working with Sonam after 10 years. Sonam too couldn't stop raving about Ranbir's talents. This only shows that mud-slinging is a thing of the past for both.
After 'Sanju' and 'Saawariya,' we deserve to see them more
We Indians love romantic movies and there is always one amazing story waiting to be told. Considering we have actors whose on-screen chemistry is stunning, filmmakers just need to make more movies starring Ranbir and Sonam. Wasting this 'Badhiya' couple won't do any good.
