'Was scared...': Udit Narayan's doubts on 'Papa Kehte Hain' success
Nostalgia swept over fans as Aamir Khan unveiled a new presentation of his classic song Papa Kehte Hain from his debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) on Monday evening. The updated track, named Papa Kehte Hain 2.0, will feature in the forthcoming film Srikanth, starring Rajkummar Rao. Udit Narayan—the original singer—was present at the event. Reunited with Khan, Narayan evoked fond memories of their collaboration.

During the event, Khan nostalgically revisited his debut leading film which also marked the beginning for co-star Juhi Chawla, music composer Anand Milind, and singer Narayan. He shared his initial apprehensions about the film and how he only noticed its flaws when he first watched it with director Mansoor Khan. "But one day it released and it was wonderful to see the journey it had. I like to believe QSQT is a milestone in Indian cinema," said Khan.

Narayan also pitched in and shared his memories from that era. Revealing his initial hesitation to sing for Khan, the 68-year-old singer added, "36 years ago they introduced me to Aamir and said that I have to sing a song for him. I was scared and I was ready to go back home if the song didn't work." "Yeh actor hai? (Is he the actor?)," Khan humorously added that Narayan might have doubted his acting abilities.
'Papa Kehte Hai 2.0': A heartwarming tribute to classic hit
The 2.0 version offers a refreshing take on the classic. The music video is filled with heartfelt moments, including Jyotika's character cheering for her son and Rao's character sharing adorable scenes with Alaya F's character. At the song launch event, a visually impaired band delivered a spectacular performance, captivating the audience with renditions of Ae Mere Humsafar and other tracks. Sung by Narayan, the music for 2.0 has been recreated by Aditya Dev, with the original music composed by Milind.

Rao to play differently-abled entrepreneur in 'Srikanth'
In the upcoming film Srikanth, Rao portrays Srikanth Bolla, an Indian entrepreneur who founded Bollant Industries, a company that employs unskilled and differently-abled individuals. Born visually impaired in 1992 near Hyderabad, Bolla's life story is truly inspiring. Speaking about his role with ANI, Rao previously stated, "I found Srikanth Bolla's story very inspiring...I have never played such a role, so it was very challenging for me." It is slated to hit screens on May 10.
