
Vyjayanthimala (91) is 'in good health'; son refutes death rumors

Legendary actor and Bharatanatyam icon, Vyjayanthimala, is alive and well at 91.
On Friday, her son Suchindra Bali debunked rumors of her demise that have been doing the rounds online.
He posted on Facebook, "Dr. Vyjayanthimala Bali is in good health, and any news that says otherwise is false," reported ETimes.

Vyjayanthimala's recent Bharatanatyam performance in Chennai
Earlier this year, Vyjayanthimala mesmerized audiences with an enchanting Bharatanatyam performance in Chennai.
The performance was held at Kala Pradarshini where she danced to the Carnatic composition Daasiganunta.
Musician Girijashankar Sundaresan accompanied her on vocals for the recital.
Through an Instagram Story, Sundaresan also confirmed that the legendary actor is alive.
"Please stop spreading baseless rumors. We are better than this," he wrote.

Vyjayanthimala's legacy in Indian cinema and classical dance
One of Indian cinema's most revered actors, Vyjayanthimala has left an indelible mark with her performances in classics like Devdas (1955), Madhumati (1958), Jewel Thief (1967) and Sangam (1964).
After retiring from films in 1970 post-Ganwaar, she devoted herself to Bharatanatyam.
Her contributions to Indian classical dance earned her the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1982.
In 2024, she was honored with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan for her remarkable legacy in arts and cinema.
