Watch: Akshay promises to fix his donated Juhu beach toilet
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who had sponsored a mobile toilet near Mumbai's Juhu beach in 2018, was recently approached by a senior citizen regarding its deteriorating condition. The individual told Kumar that the toilet was now completely rusted. This interaction took place outside a polling booth in Mumbai where the actor had come to cast his vote for the Maharashtra Assembly Polls on Wednesday.
'I will address this issue to BMC'
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the senior citizen is seen telling Kumar, "The toilet you installed is rusted. I have been still maintaining it for the past four years." To this, a surprised Kumar responded, "Oh you are? Okay, I will address this issue to BMC." The man then suggested if Kumar donates another toilet he would get it installed.

Kumar's commitment to public sanitation
Kumar's decision to sponsor the mobile toilet, which cost him ₹10L, came after his wife Twinkle Khanna tweeted about open defecation at Juhu beach. The toilet's installation was confirmed by Prashant Gaikwad, the municipal commissioner of K-ward who told PTI, "We welcomed his initiative and installed the toilet near Juhu beach four days ago." "The actor bore all expenses for setting up the portable toilet." This was a year after Kumar's film on sanitation, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, came out.
Kumar's praise for Election Commission of India
After casting his vote, Kumar took a moment to appreciate the Election Commission of India (ECI) for their arrangements at the polling center. He particularly mentioned the provisions made for senior citizens and the cleanliness maintained at the venue. The actor also used this opportunity to encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote, emphasizing its significance for the nation.
