'Very desi spy' returns in 'Apharan 2'; trailer out
Ekta Kapoor's creation, Apharan, is returning with a second season. Arunodhay Singh is making a comeback as "desi cop" Rudra Srivastava, who once again gets involved in an abducting plan and finds himself in the middle of a mess. Many of the old characters will be returning as well. The trailer for Apharan 2 was dropped on Friday. Here's a breakdown.
What did the trailer show?
The two-minute trailer begins with Srivastava being roped in to "save the country" by abducting a notorious killer of sorts—BBS aka Bikram Bahadur Shah. The officer soon realizes the task is a "doomed mission" and he has gotten himself in a soup by getting involved in this. Like the last season, we find an adequate dose of ridiculous and funny situations in the trailer.
Did you notice Jeetendra's blink-and-miss appearance?
Understandably, the 11-episode series will see an elevation of action, comedy, and drama in its sophomore season. With director Santosh Singh at the helm, the show will co-feature Nidhi Singh, Saanand Verma, and Snehil Dixit Mehra. Interestingly, Kapoor's father and legendary Bollywood actor Jeetendra will make a cameo in this. He even shows up for a second in the trailer!

Show premieres on Voot Select on March 18
"This show will give the audience the edge of the seat drama they have been looking for!" said Kapoor about Apharan 2. "Everything will be double - the threat, drama, action, mystery, passion, and even revenge," she added. Written by Sidharth Sengupta, Umesh Padalkar, Anahata Menon, the saga of the "very desi spy" premieres exclusively on Voot Select on March 18.
This Holi, you have at least four web series releasing
However, the quirky crime comedy won't be getting released sans competition. This is because at least three other highly-anticipated Indian shows are dropping on various OTT platforms on March 18 (Holi). First up, we have Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah's Jalsa on Amazon Prime Video. ZEE5 will bring the dark comedy Bloody Brothers, while Sunny Leone-led spy thriller Anamika releases on MX Player.
