Maha Kumbh's viral sensation Monalisa to make Bollywood debut
What's the story
Monalisa Bhosle, the 16-year-old from Madhya Pradesh who became an overnight sensation at Maha Kumbh 2025, will soon make her Bollywood debut.
Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra has offered her a role in his upcoming project, The Diary of Manipur.
Mishra announced this news through a social media video where he shared glimpses of his meeting with Bhosle and her family in their village in Maheshwar, Khargone district.
Rise to fame
Bhosle's journey from garland seller to viral sensation
Bhosle first came into the limelight when a content creator recorded her selling rudraksha garlands at Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj.
Her amber-colored eyes and "innocence" immediately grabbed the attention of netizens, making her a viral sensation overnight.
However, the sudden fame also upended her life, forcing her to leave Maha Kumbh 2025 due to excessive attention and hounding.
Casting choice
Mishra's decision to cast Bhosle in 'The Diary of Manipur'
Mishra, who has worked on The Diary of West Bengal, picked Bhosle for the lead in his next because of her innocence and authenticity.
In an Instagram post, he wrote he prefers a "poor and cultured girl" over "rich, high-society 'nangi lucchi' girls who indulge in alcohol and drugs."
He went on to call Bhosle's rise to fame a real-life fairy tale where a simple girl became a sensation unexpectedly.
Career aspirations
Bhosle's response to Bollywood offer and future plans
When asked if she'd like to pursue a career in films, Bhosle replied in the affirmative, saying, "I will definitely do it if my parents allow me to."
In Mishra's video, too, the teenager said she was delighted with the movie offer.
With this, Bhosle is all set to go from a viral sensation to a budding actor in the Indian film industry.
