    Vikram confirms 'Thangalaan' sequel: 'We'll work on it soon'

    Actor Vikram, who is currently basking in the success of his latest release Thangalaan, has confirmed that a sequel to the film is in the works.

    The 56-year-old actor made this announcement during a promotional event for Thangalaan in Hyderabad on Friday.

    Directed by Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan is a period action drama that hit the theaters on August 15.

    'We need to continue this story,' says Vikram

    During the promotional event, Vikram said, "Gnanavelraja (producer), Ranjith and I have discussed about wanting to do a second part very soon."

    He added, "That is not only because we love the film and want to make 100 parts, but the love you all have given us. The way you love this film, the support, we feel like we need to continue this story."

    'Thangalaan' opened to mixed-to-positive reviews

    Thangalaan is a period-action drama that is centered around a group of tribals who are commissioned by a British officer to find gold in Kolar Gold Fields.

    The period drama, which also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, and Daniel Caltagirone, among others, opened to mixed-to-positive reviews.

    The film marks Ranjith's first collaboration with Vikram.
