Vikram Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt reunite for horror film 'Cold'
After a successful collaboration on the horror flick Raaz, Vikram Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt are teaming up again after almost two decades. Vikram on Monday announced the movie, titled Cold. The film will be written by Mahesh and Suhrita Sen Gupta, and will star actors Akshay Oberoi and Anisha Pahuja in lead roles. Here are more details on this.
Going to reinvent the horror genre, says Vikram
In a statement, Vikram said, "The world has gone through a harrowing time in the past one year and there is a need for a collective catharsis and Cold is going to provide the viewers with that (sic)." "I am going to reinvent the horror genre with my mentor Mahesh Bhatt twenty years after Raaz, once again with Cold," he further added.
'Cold': Story of a woman trying to survive
The makers informed that Cold will tell the story of a woman trying to overcome a horrific time and how she survives alone in a big city, surrounded by the dangers of losing her life. The first shooting schedule of the movie has already started in Mumbai. The film is being produced by Krishna Bhatt and Amar Thakkar under the banner Loneranger.
'Raaz' turned out to be a superhit
When Raaz came out in 2002, it was a superhit at the box office, and also earned its lead actor Bipasha Basu a Filmfare nomination for Best Actress. The movie was praised for its story, direction and melodious music album. The horror film franchise had three more installments after that, all of them starring actor Emraan Hashmi in the lead.
Vikram's love for horror has stood the test of time
Vikram had tasted success with the drama Ghulam in 1998, but it was his fascination with the horror genre that eventually helped him carve a niche for himself. Apart from the Raaz franchise, he is also known for directing another horror franchise - 1920, which has also been positively received. He has also made other horror flicks like Haunted - 3D and Creature 3D.
