The series, which is set to premiere on August 29, is based on the real-life incident of the 1999 Kandahar plane hijack. IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack will provide a detailed account of the terrifying incident that occurred on December 24, 1999. As the trailer suggests, it shows both the aviation team and the government's race against time to free the passengers. An Indian Airlines plane en route from Kathmandu to Delhi was hijacked and diverted to Amritsar, Lahore, and finally Kandahar in Afghanistan. The series will depict the ordeal of the approximately 188 passengers who were held hostage for seven days.

The series boasts a stellar cast including Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Varma, Dia Mirza, Pankaj Kapur, Kumud Mishra, Patralekhaa, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, and Pooja Gor.
